A mysterious letter of love and eternity

The life of 15-year-oled Georg seems to be very ordinary: he has a mother, a step-father and a little sister, he is a good student and especially interested in astronomy. On a completely ordinary day, something extraordinary happens – Georg receives a letter from the past, from his father who he has no memory of. In the letter, his father tells him a story of the mysterious Orange Girl and asks Georg a question that will turn his life upside down. Georg is faced with relationships and memories that are usually not talked about.

The story of the Orange Girl speaks of things that matter the most: love and longing, family and loneliness, time and eternity.

The Orange Girl is a novel by Jostein Gaarder, a contemporary Norwegian children’s and youth author, whose works discuss current problems in a timeless manner and raise thought-provoking questions about mans’ place in the universe. Written in 2003, the novel has been translated into more than 40 languages.
